Introduction
In 2017, RFi Group will produce the third annual edition of its Global Payment Evolution study of 16 markets around the world, including interviews with more than 32,000 consumers. In studying the evolution of payments around the world, the report explores the progression towards a cashless society via the following themes:

1. The demise of cash
2. The rise of electronic card-based payments
3. The increasing influence of contactless payments
4. The rise of digital wallets
Highlights
This concept report draws upon RFi Group’s extensive ongoing research conducted among consumers around the world. In this research, RFi shows that at each stage of the evolution there are significant barriers that will slow down what is effectively an inevitable progression.
